The SW-510W is a wireless AV gateway and much more. It delivers complete yet simplified AV system integration for collaborative meeting spaces, with all the convenience and automation features that distinguish Atlona products among AV integrators.
Room control and triggering capability
Use the SW-510W to trigger a motorized screen, projector lift, or other room-related function. You can easily tie in this triggering with occupancy sensing, a button module, or into a control system such as Atlona Velocity.
Universal AV input interfaces
The SW-510W in unique in that it switches between wireless casting and four wired AV inputs. It’s also equipped with the inputs found in all laptops today, including USB-C – and you can charge through this same port!
Flexible network deployment options
You can cast directly to the SW-510W via its own Wireless Access Point for Wi-Fi. Or, for security reasons, you can disable it and bridge via Ethernet into the facility LAN. For detailed information, see the FAQs below or refer to this document.
Matrix switching with local and long-distance outputs
The SW-510W features matrix switching to two outputs. One lets you make an HDMI connection to a display, while the other is for extending over HDBaseT up to 100 meters away – so you can install the SW-510W wherever needed.
Custom welcome screen
Greet incoming presenters with a customizable welcome screen that displays instructions on making a device connection, including wireless access codes. You can use preloaded or your own background images, and display a single image or rotate through several as a slideshow.
Network security features
The SW-510W is equipped with a host of network security features specifically to prevent unauthorized access. Among them is IEEE 802.1x for Wi-Fi and Ethernet, for enterprises and other organizations requiring all devices with secure authentication to access their networks.
Available Models
The SW-510W is designed for use in the US, Canada, and India. A version for Europe, Australia, South Africa, as well as Asia is also available as the AT-UHD-SW-510W-EU. Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes the SW-510W stand out among the many wireless collaboration devices on the market?
The SW-510W is unique is its ability to allow screen mirroring via AirPlay, Google Cast, or Miracast, with no need to install an app on a presenter’s device. The SW-510W supports both peer-to-peer Miracast (Wi-Fi Direct) as well as Miracast over Infrastructure modes, which are the de facto protocols in newer Windows operating systems, and deliver improved reliability and scalability over the previous Miracast specification. Many competing wireless collaboration gateways do not support Miracast over Infrastructure.
2. Which operating systems can connect wirelessly to the SW-510W?
iOS, Android, Mac OS, and Chrome OS (Chromebook), as well as Windows 8.1 and 10 with Miracast enabled. For Windows 7, users can cast content from the Chrome web browser.
3. Does this product come with integrated wireless capabilities?
Yes. The SW-510W includes two wireless access points, one for AirPlay and Google Cast, and the other dedicated to Miracast. It is worth nothing that competing wireless collaboration gateways typically do not include built-in wireless capabilities (they rely on LAN connection into a facility’s existing Wi-Fi).
4. Can the SW-510W be adapted to specific network access and security requirements?
Absolutely. Several network operating modes are available with the SW-510W, depending on the requirements of the application, end user, and IT network security policy.
Guest mode – Guests can present from their devices by connecting through the SW-510W’s wireless access points. The unit is also networked into the facility LAN via Ethernet, for presenters authorized to access in-house Wi-Fi.
Private mode – The SW-510W functions as a standalone, private Wi-Fi network, with no networking into the facility LAN.
Bridge mode – The wireless access points are disabled on the SW-510W. Presenters will need authorization to access the facility Wi-Fi network.
Additional network operating modes are available. Please see refer to the IT Deployment Guide for complete information.
5. What security features are available with the SW-510W?
The SW-510W supports several industry-standard network security features including HTTPS, SSH, and IEEE 802.1x. It also includes a built-in firewall, configurable to restrict incoming and outgoing network traffic. For Wi-Fi access, the SW-510W allows user-generated or randomly generated authentication passwords.
For wireless content sharing, the SW-510W protects unauthorized iOS, Mac, or PC connections through randomly generated PIN codes, refreshed every five minutes. Furthermore, the end user can choose to display wireless connection instructions through a customized welcome screen, or hide them altogether.
