Touch-Free AV Presentation Solutions
When business begins to return to a “new normal”, it will most likely be with guidelines to protect employee safety and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Sanitizing surfaces, social distancing, and masks will still be with us, and these present unique challenges for office and meeting environments. Of obvious concern is the typical AV system that utilizes a touch panel, keypad, or other physical user interface to control equipment and room computers or cables that provide connections to the system.
To address these issues, Atlona is highlighting a number of our AV and Control system technologies that eliminate or minimize users having to touch shared technology components to help keep workers safe while collaborating.
- Touch-free AV – fully automated meeting spaces without touching anything but your personal laptop or mobile device
- BYOD AV Control – harness the power of a touch panel control system from your personal mobile device
- Bring Your Own Cable – only touch your own cable when you absolutely, positively need a physical connection to the AV system
Imagine entering a meeting space, presenting material, then leaving the room without touching anything but your personal laptop or mobile device. Atlona makes this a reality with the following features built into our AT-UHD-SW-510W and AT-OME-MS52W AV switchers.
Automatic Display Control
Switchers automatically turn the display on or off based on a trigger I/O input such as an occupancy sensor or an active source on one of the inputs.
Allows presenters to mirror content from their personal iOS®, Android®, Mac®, Chromebook®, or Windows® device over Wi-Fi® without the need to install an app. A welcome screen on the display provides instructions on how to connect your device.
Automatic Input Selection
Selects the active input when sources are connected or if there is a change in source
Used with an occupancy sensor to automatically power on or off the AV system when participants either enter or leave the room
Automatically control motorized projection screens, lighting, or shades based on system state.
BYOD AV Control
For meeting environments that do not have a fully automated switcher, Atlona’s Velocity™ system provides solutions for eliminating touch and maximizing automation for the AV control system. This includes use of your personal laptop or mobile device when direct access to the control system is required.
QR Code BYOD Control
Velocity generates and embeds a QR code in touch panel GUI. Users scan the code with their BYOD device to take full control of the AV system. May be configured as open access, secure access, or with periodic link changes.
The VCC-RELAY-KIT may be used with an occupancy sensor to automatically power on or off the AV system when participants either enter or leave the room
The VCC-RELAY-KIT can automatically control motorized projection screens, lighting, or shades based on system state.

BRING YOUR OWN CABLE - BYOC
Some meetings require directly interfacing with the AV system and components in the room. Such as a soft codec videoconference where your laptop needs access to the USB camera and speaker phone. In these instances, wall plates with the appropriate connections allow short personal cable to be used, without touching surfaces that have been handled by others.
AT-OME-EX-TX-WP is a HDBaseT transmitter in a one-gang enclosure for Decora®-style openings that includes HDMI and both USB host and peripheral connections. It is ideal for extending AV, USB, and control signals from a wall, lectern, or floor box to Omega Series switchers and receivers.
Personal Patch Cables
LinkConnect Cables allow users to interface with meeting room AV equipment without having to handle cables that have been touched by others. HDMI, USB-C, and Mini DisplayPort cables are available, ranging in lengths from 1 – 3 meters.

TOUCH-FREE AV SYSTEM APPLICATION
Here is an example of a fully automated meeting room AV system that allows participants to enter the room and present without touching any elements of the system. The Atlona AT-UHD-SW-510W universal switcher with wireless link is the heart of the Touch-Free AV system. Trigger I/O connected to an occupancy sensor and Automatic Display Control power the display on when participants enter the room. A customizable Splash Screen will appear on the display with instructions for connecting wireless devices to the switcher, for native wireless AV casting from attendee devices with no app required. When participants leave the room and the sensor detects no activity for a user selectable period of time, the switcher will send a power down command to the display.
