The NETGEAR^® M4250 Series is a family of managed Gigabit Ethernet network switches designed specifically for AV over IP systems. Atlona is offering several models of the M4250 Series, preconfigured and ready for integration with OmniStream™ systems. A NETGEAR switch from Atlona delivers an out-of-the-box installation experience – power up the switch, and then follow a simple instruction guide to quickly set up the switch and connect OmniStream endpoints. M4250 Series switches are available with 8, 24, or 40 ports with PoE+ (Power over Ethernet+) to remotely power OmniStream encoders and decoders, plus additional network ports including SFP+ interfaces that can be used with optional NETGEAR SFP+ fiber optic transceiver modules to enable 10 Gigabit Ethernet links between NETGEAR switches, or long-distance transmission. The M4250 Series features an intuitive, user-friendly web GUI specifically for AV integrators and technicians that focuses on the aspects of network monitoring and management most relevant to networked AV systems. When multiple M4250 switches are required for an AV over IP system, NETGEAR IGMP Plus™ greatly simplify the configuration process to make them work together for multicast streaming across the entire network.

These NETGEAR switches help alleviate a very common challenge with integrating networked AV systems: the highly technical and often unintuitive steps in configuring network switches for DHCP address assignments, VLANs, IGMP for multicasting, and more. M4250 network switches direct from Atlona are preconfigured to work with OmniStream, so customers can bypass all the cumbersome configuration tasks, greatly streamline network switch setup, and proceed right into configuring OmniStream endpoints to get the system up and running. As an additional benefit, customers have the ability to purchase all AV over IP system components from Atlona, including the network switch.

* The NETGEAR-GSM4212P switch is ideal for smaller, standalone AV over IP systems, as well as for demo purposes. It will be not be suitable for uplinks to other NETGEAR M4250 switches, since the SFP ports have a maximum 1 Gbps bandwidth. For projects requiring more than one network switch with OmniStream encoders and / or decoders on separate network switches, the NETGEAR-GSM4212PX, NETGEAR-GSM4230PX, and NETGEAR-GSM4248PX feature SFP+ ports with a 10 Gbps bandwidth capability to interconnect two or more switches.
