Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Software Quality Assurance Engineer analyzes and runs tests on new or modified software and firmware programs, and writes/reviews/follows documentation, diagrams, and flowcharts, and software development procedures used to verify that programs function according to user requirements and conform to established guidelines.  This role designs, develops, and executes functional test cases using our Zephyr Scale test case management system.  Additionally, this role runs in-depth testing, detects problems, recommends solutions, and determines if program requirements have been met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in design reviews of Product Requirements Documents, by developing test plans and test cases, executing test cases, and identifying/analyzing defects, questionable functions, errors and inconsistencies in software program functions, outputs, online screens, and content for Atlona products.
  • Test integrated systems involving Atlona products, which includes DSP systems, switchers and matrixes, extenders, etc., from brands such as Extron, Crestron, etc.
  • Review product complaints and recreates – working with product managers and engineers to facilitate timely resolution of customer reports.
  • Being a leader and mentor to the team while also working alongside to deliver a working quality tested audio-visual product.
  • Contributes to establishing and documenting quality processes, standards, procedures, and practices, as part of the Quality & Environmental Management System (QEMS).
  • Ensure zero quality escapes, continuously advocating for measurable continuous improvement.

Education:

Bachelor of Science in a technical field such as computer science, engineering, or hard science (chemistry, physics, etc.) or equivalent work experience.

Qualified Individuals:     

  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex issues related to audio, video, or networked products.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the commercial audio-visual industry.
  • Strong knowledge of IT/networking fundamentals and proficiency with Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems. This includes TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, ARP, etc.
  • Understanding of software, firmware, and hardware integration is a plus.
  • Preferred experience in automated testing using Selenium WebDriver and/or Python, as well as API testing with Postman, including protocols like RS-232, WebSocket, and HTTP.
  • Audio Visual (AV) industry experience preferred, includes,
  • Video routing, extension, switching
  • Audio DSP configuration and control
  • Soft and hard codec conferencing solutions
  • Cameras, sensors, relays, and other AV and control peripherals
  • AVoverIP, HDBaseT, SDVoE and HDMI technologies

Licenses/Certifications Preferred: 

  • ISTQB or ASTQB Foundation Level Certification
  • CCNA or equivalent
  • Creston, Biamp, QSYS, Dante or equivalent

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Product Manager – Networked A/V

Atlona is looking for an experienced Product Manager to lead its Networked Audio and Video over IP (AV over IP) product line. You will be responsible for creating the vision and strategy for the next generation AV over IP product lines and strengthen the current solution’s market share. As product line owner at Atlona, you will define and execute the current and future product road map, establish product price strategies, craft the go-to-market plan, and oversee the product launch. Additionally, you will use business intelligence, market trends, customer input, and financial analysis to influence product development plans.

Location:

Remote within the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee product line life cycle including concept definition, implementation, go-to-market, and end-of-life.
  • Translate customer and market requirements into concise and clear Product Requirements.
  • Define and communicate a clear product vision and strategy, value proposition, use cases, and positioning for current and future products, both internally and externally.
  • Make functionality and feature trade-off decisions to ensure timely delivery of products and solutions.
  • Ensure Sales, Marketing, and Support teams are trained, and act as a technical resource for support, pre-sales, and sales teams.
  • Set market pricing to remain competitive while ensuring profitability.
  • Research target market trends and emerging technologies.
  • Research the competition and perform competitive product benchmarking and feature analysis.
  • Manage beta programs to gather customer feedback and ensure successful releases.
  • Be responsible for the financial health of products, including periodic reports on product line performance.

Required Education & Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience in the Professional Audio-Visual industry, video streaming, or Broadcast markets as a Product Manager, Consultant, System Designer, or related role.  Experience in the Education vertical market is a plus.
  • BA/BS degree required; computer science/engineering degree (or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Proven track record managing all aspects of successful products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Hands-on experience with video processing equipment: encoders, decoders, media servers, streaming devices, network switches, and network routers.
  • Hands-on experience with AV distribution products: HDMI switchers, HDMI extenders, and HDBaseT matrix switchers.
  • Comprehensive understanding of enterprise IP network architecture, protocols, and streaming technologies, with a specific focus on audio/video multicast.
  • Experience with video codecs, and compression standards such as H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, JPEG2000, and JPEG-XS.
  • Intimate knowledge with audio over IP distribution: AES67, Dante, and audio over RTP.
