Challenge
Retailers are always looking for ways to differentiate themselves from the competition as well as create excitement and connect with their customers. Digital signage is one way to achieve these goals. Placing screens in the window and throughout the store allows retailers to engage with customers by displaying dynamic video, advertisement, and entertainment content related to their brand and business. To achieve this, a system that supports the distribution of high quality video content from a centralized source to multiple displays mounted in various locations is required.
Solution
Taking a single HDMI source and sending it to multiple displays requires a distribution amplifier such as Atlona’s HDR-CAT or Rondo™ series of products. Both series offer several models that support a different number of outputs for the displays. The HDR-CAT line has models with 2, 4, and 8 outputs. The Rondo series also has models with 2, 4, and 8 outputs.
Distance between the source and the displays is another important consideration. HDR-CAT products use HDBaseT™ transmission to support distances up to 330 feet over CAT 6/6A cable on certain models. Rondo products connect to displays over HDMI cabling at distances up to 50 feet. If there is a mix of short and long distances to displays, a Rondo distribution amplifier can be used with Avance™ HDBaseT extenders for the longer runs.
Application Design
Send content up to 330 feet to multiple displays
The AT-HDR-CAT-4ED takes content from a HDMI source and distributes it to four displays via HDBaseT with AT-HDR-EX-100CEA-RX receivers.
