Esser InfoStarting in March of 2020, Congress set aside funding allotted to the Education Stabilization Fund through the Coronavirus Aid Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund.
The Department of Education awarded grants to states for the purpose of providing local educational agencies and qualifying charter schools with emergency relief funds to address the impact that COVID-19 has had on schools across the nation.
The funding was rolled out in three phases with the final being the American Rescue Plan (ARP) ESSER. While applications for ARP ESSER funding are closed, there is still time to obligate funds prior to September 30, 2024 deadline.
